Books for our Preschoolers
Ages 3-5

Oh, wow! Our kids are growing so fast – already between the ages 3-5. The school years are just around the corner. Some of you may already have placed your children in preschool.

So, just what are the books that are going to help our kids the most? Naturally, we would think the ones that are going to teach kids morals, ABC's, numbers and sentences. And while that answer may be partly true the actual answer to that question is another question: "what are the books that our kids enjoy the most?"

The best thing we can do for our kids is to foster an enjoyment of reading. Many of the great books incorporate lessons into the stories. So, really all we need to do is to get our kids exposed to these books.

When choosing a book for your preschooler (Ages 3-5) look for these key features:

  • Simple Text with Easy to Identify and Speak Words
  • Pictures that Enhance the Development of the Story
  • Durability – books that can handle being read over & over again
  • Simple and Basic Storyline that Kids Can Identify With

We compiled an Ages 3-5 Booklist below for your use. You may notice that a few of the books listed below are also in the list for ages 0-2. That is because at this young age, there is no clear line of separation between the reading levels. It's more about the fostering of enjoyment in reading and the simple word identification in the text.
